Since opening our doors in 1967, we have expanded and now have six practices throughout Eastern North Carolina. Our offices are located in Greenville, New Bern, Edenton, Elizabeth City, Washington and Newport. We are pleased to offer the latest technology for treatment of medical and cosmetic conditions that affect the skin. Our board-certified physicians and experienced professionals work closely to provide the comfort and care you need while assuring the improvement of your health and overall appearance. While most medical conditions require referrals from your primary care physician, most of our cosmetic offerings are performed by professionals without the need for a physician referral. I fell in love with aesthetics in high school reading and learning about it on my free time. I attended Lenoir Community College straight out of high school and became a licensed aesthetician in 2020. My main goal going into this career was always to get into the medical side of the job. I specialize in Laser hair removal, tattoo removal, cool sculpting, ultherapy as well as other treatments. I’m very passionate about skincare and love to help patients fulfill their needs and wants.

Amber began practicing as a Licensed Aesthetician in May 2011 after graduating with honors from the Aesthetics program at Carteret Community College. Since beginning her career in Dermatology, she has received extensive training in the treatment of rosacea, hyperpigmentation, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, melasma, skin rejuvenation and laser hair removal. She is also specialized in several breakthrough technologies including the use of a variety of lasers, Ultherapy, and Exilis®. Amber has been with Eastern Dermatology and Pathology since 2009 and has fallen in love with rejuvenating her patients' skin. Since joining our team, we know she has truly found her niche and we look forward to sharing her talent with you!

Stacy has been with Eastern Dermatology and Pathology since moving to New Bern in 2004. Before graduating from Craven Community College in 2006, Stacey practiced as a medical assistant at Eastern Dermatology and Pathology. Since then, she has trained and excelled in treatments such as sclerotherapy, filler, BOTOX® Cosmetic and hyperhydrosis. Stacy has also specialized in various body sculpting treatments such as Vanquish ME™ and coolsculpting®. She says what she loves most about dermatology is seeing her patients progress throughout their treatment. She truly enjoys building a newfound confidence through dermatology with each patient and hopes to have this same opportunity with you!

Dr. Mathijs Brentjens earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Davidson College, a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his medical degree from State University of New York in Buffalo. He completed his Dermatology Residency at the University of Texas, Medical Branch at Galveston and is board certified in Dermatology. Dr. Brentjens received the William N. Reynolds Fellowship and has contributed to several publications.

Stephanie graduated with honors from the Nursing program at Carteret Community College. She then continued her studies and earned her Bachelors in Science of Nursing from East Carolina University, magna cum laude. After graduating, Stephanie joined our team at Eastern Dermatology and trained under Dr. Warren. She has recently transferred from our clinical side to our Cosmetic department. Paula King is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She graduated from Georgetown University with a masters of science in nursing in 1994 and has been an aesthetics injector for 16 years. Paula is skilled in injecting all neurotoxins, hyaluronic fillers, Radiesse, Sculptra, and PRP including face and body treatments. She has been a national trainer in neurotoxin for the last two years. Paula is currently accepting new aesthetic patients in our Newport office.

Erin McGillicuddy Hurd is a local girl with strong ties to this community. Erin is a Board Certified Dermatology Nurse Practitioner. She is only one of three in the State of North Carolina to hold this distinction. Erin is a 1999 graduate of J. H. Rose High School and graduated from Wake Forest University in 2003 with a Major in Communication and a Minor in International Studies and Global Trade and Commerce. Upon graduation, she worked in PR and Marketing in Winston-Salem, however realized her true love was helping others and returned home to pursue a nursing degree. She attended ECU College of Nursing and graduated with her BSN in 2008. She worked as a cardiac nurse putting herself though her Masters Program at UNC Chapel Hill, and achieved her FNP License in 2014. For the past 5 years, she has worked as a Dermatology Nurse Practitioner at ECU Dermatology, where after 3 years she achieved her Board Certification in Dermatology. Erin is married to Toby, and has two children, daughter Finn who is 3 and son Bennett who is 6 months. They make their home in Greenville. Mrs. Hurd is currently accepting new patients.

Brighton Gibson was born and raised in Conway, South Carolina. She relocated to North Carolina a few years ago to pursue her dream job of becoming an Aesthetician. She graduated from the esthetics program at Carteret Community College in May 2019. She joined our Cosmetic team in August and has been fully trained by our Physicians and our Cosmetic staff. She graduated from Central Carolina Community College at the top of her class in 2017.
